Ketapang Industrial Estate: A Profile

Located in the South Matan Hilir Subdistrict within Ketapang Residency, the Ketapang Industrial Estate spans 1,000 hectares of land. Anchored by the alumina industry, the investment value reaches Rp 4 Trillion. The esteemed anchor industry, PT. Well Harvest Winning Alumina Refinery, has facilitated adjustments to the Residency Spatial Plan in collaboration with the local government. The groundbreaking event for this project occurred in September 2015.

Part of the developmental plan involves establishing a sea port to serve as the entry point for unloading industrial goods. Upgrades to the provincial road network aim to enhance connectivity in the area. Additionally, improvements are being made to the access road linking the industrial estate with the sea port. This ambitious undertaking is projected to create employment opportunities for roughly 10,000 workers.

Pt BSM New Material: A Important Tenant

Within the industrial park, Pt BSM New Material stands as the exclusive tenant. This entity serves as an Indonesian importer, meticulously tracking import data including product specifications, prices, quantities, HS codes, ports of entry, and suppliers. The data is sourced from government repositories, port authorities, and shipping lines, providing insights into each importer’s activities.

Established in 2016, Jiangsu Ketapang Agricultural and Forestry Ecological Industrial Construction and Development Co. Ltd undertakes the development and management of agricultural and forestry industrial park infrastructure. Their flagship endeavor, Indonesian Ketapang Agricultural and Forestry Ecological Industrial Park Co. Ltd., harnesses Ketapang’s advantages like rainfall, sunshine, arable land, and cost-effective labor pool. Positioned at convenient distances from regional hubs, this park presents an array of opportunities.

Evolving Phases: Progress and Anticipation

Spanning five square kilometers and requiring around $800 million in investment, the industrial park’s development occurs across three phases. The initial phase, spanning 2016 to 2019, covers 1 square kilometer. The second phase, from 2019 to 2022, extends over 2 square kilometers. The third phase, from 2022 to 2025, mirrors the expanse. These stages balance infrastructure creation with sustainable housing development.

The industrial park’s initial phase has materialized into a tangible reality. With investments surpassing $130 million, it encompasses diverse components. Infrastructure development includes river channel excavation, road networks, power distribution, and green spaces. Housing construction incorporates commercial spaces, hotels, dormitories, workshops, and office facilities. By navigating natural advantages and industry-specific needs, the park converges into an integrated ecosystem.

Progressive Vision: Aspirations for Sustainability

The industrial park’s journey began in 2016, gradually attracting over 20 enterprises by 2019. Spanning domains like culture, education, research, energy, logistics, agriculture, and forestry, these enterprises lay the foundation for potential growth. Leveraging local resources and collaborative development with the government, the park envisions a comprehensive chain encompassing breeding, processing, production, and export, fostering economic resilience.

As the industrial park progresses, it envisions a comprehensive model spanning multiple phases. The integration of agroforestry, manufacturing, and eco-tourism fortifies Ketapang’s position as a hallmark of intercontinental cooperation. Through meticulous planning and harmonization of resources, this initiative sets the stage for a future with potential growth. The amalgamation of industry, nature, and community exemplifies the outcomes achievable through collaborative vision and strategic execution.
