Srihatta Economic Zone is located on 352 acres of land east of Sylhet. The zone will play an important role in decentralization of industries and employment of about 44,000 people of Sylhet division. Jalalabad Gas Distribution Company Limited has started the construction of a pipeline for providing gas connections to the zone and BREB has started the construction of a 33/11 KVA power sub station for ensure quality electricity. Land development, electricity supply lines and lake development work started by BEZA. In March 2017, investment proposals were invited to invest in the Srihatta Economic Zone and in the meantime, six entities were allotted 231 acres of land. There are proposals worth investment of about 1.4 billion US dollars from these six companies. Investors will start setting up industries from December 2018.
