Pakistan - کورنگی کریک انڈسٹریل پارک

Korangi Creek Industrial Park is located close to Karachi, the main commercial city of Pakistan. The focus is on lighter industrial tenants including modern pharmaceutical companies. The location is just 22 km from Karachi Seaport.

Located in the heart of Karachi’s industrial hub, the Korangi Creek Industrial Park (KCIP) stands as a testament to Pakistan’s commitment to fostering economic development and industrial progress. With an expansive area of 250 acres, this Special Economic Zone (SEZ) offers a conducive environment for diverse industrial segments to flourish. Let’s delve into the various facets that define this dynamic industrial park.

Strategic Location and Industrial Clusters at Korangi Creek Industrial Park

Situated in Sector 38 of the Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi, KCIP’s strategic location holds proximity to vital economic nodes. The park’s land area accommodates a multitude of industries organized into two primary clusters. The Low Density Zone houses enterprises specializing in light engineering, food processing, consumer food and pharmaceutical products, garments, value-added textiles, as well as packaging and printing. On the other hand, the High Density Zone is a fertile ground for commercial and business centers, information technology, and the gems and jewelry industry.

KCIP offers diverse plot sizes tailored to industry-specific requirements. In the Low Density Zone, plots range from 0.5 to 1 acre or above, accommodating structures of up to G + 4 floors with a 65% footprint. The High Density Zone caters to plots from 0.5 acre and allows structures of up to G + 19 floors, with a 50% footprint. The industrial park is seamlessly connected to key economic arteries:

  • Karachi Sea Port: 22 km
  • I.I. Chundrigar Road: 13 km
  • Quaid-E-Azam International Airport: 20 km
  • Super Highway: 30 km
  • National Highway: 34 km

Infrastructure and Benefits at  Korangi Creek Industrial Park

KCIP presents a host of infrastructural benefits, including a captive power plant, telecommunication systems with broadband wireless internet connectivity, and gas supply from Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). Completed roads network and comprehensive services like effluent treatment, solid waste management, transport hub, weigh bridge, and vocational training center enhance the park’s operational efficiency. A secured boundary wall with controlled entry and exit mechanisms ensures a safe business environment. Additionally, a commercial center is reserved for essential amenities like banks, insurance offices, post offices, auditoriums, food courts, and more.

The industrial park’s power requirements are met by a 9.4 MW capacity available through two 11 kV feeder lines. A gas supply of 5 MMCFD sufficiently caters to industrial needs. For water, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) ensures an ample supply to meet the park’s demands.

Challenges and Government Initiatives

KCIP has been instrumental in promoting industrialization in Pakistan. However, challenges like power availability, sublease execution, excessive charges imposed by the Cantonment Board, and administrative hurdles have impeded its full potential. The government, cognizant of these issues, aims to address obstacles and improve the ease of doing business. Federal Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs and Revenue, Asad Umar, expressed commitment to resolving these challenges during his visit to KCIP.

Korangi Creek Industrial Park is more than a physical space; it embodies Pakistan’s aspiration for industrial excellence and economic growth. With a range of services, strategic infrastructure, and a diverse ecosystem, KCIP continues to be a driving force in shaping Pakistan’s industrial landscape. As the government endeavors to enhance its potential, KCIP stands as a symbol of progress, innovation, and opportunity.
