India - औरंगाबाद इंडस्ट्रियल सिटी
Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) is one of India’s smartest industrial cities being developed over 10,000 acres in Maharashtra. It forms an integral part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor which aims to be India’s pre-eminent manufacturing hub. AURIC is being developed by Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited (AITL). This is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC).
Aurangabad Industrial City – India’s First Planned Industrial Smart City
Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) is India’s pioneering greenfield industrial smart city, strategically located on the outskirts of Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Spanning 10,000 acres, AURIC is a flagship project under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), developed by Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited (AITL)—a collaboration between DMIC Development Corporation (DMICDC) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
Designed for seamless integration of industry, commerce, and urban living, AURIC dedicates 60% of its land to industrial development, while 40% is allocated for residential, commercial, and social infrastructure, including office spaces, hotels, retail hubs, healthcare, education, parks, and entertainment zones. With an infrastructure investment of ₹7.9 billion backed by the Indian government, the city is poised to become a major manufacturing hub, targeting an export output of $11.6 billion and generating over 300,000 jobs.
Surrounding infrastructure
AURIC is built to support a population of 500,000, offering world-class amenities for a thriving, sustainable community. Its strategic connectivity enhances its industrial appeal—just 10 minutes from Aurangabad International Airport and 40 kilometers from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust’s (JNPT) dry port in Jalna, providing seamless access to India’s largest seaport. Additionally, robust rail and highway networks link AURIC to major economic centers across the country.
In 2024, AURIC gained further momentum with Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd signing an MoU with the Maharashtra government to establish a ₹20,000 crore manufacturing plant, reinforcing the city’s position as a key player in India’s industrial landscape.
Infrastructure at Aurangabad Industrial City
AURIC will offer high-value, sustainable infrastructure that will support long-term economic vitality, a high quality of life, and a knowledge-based ecosystem with breakthrough innovation and efficiency. To implement this vision, state-of-the-art smart technology will be employed. Infrastructure will focus on clean, reusable and recycling methodologies. Industrial growth will be encouraged in targeted areas to build upon the industrial success of the region. AURIC’s development and implementation is being undertaken by Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited (AITL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between Mumbai Industrial Development Corridor (MIDC) and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC).
AITL will develop and manage the new integrated industrial township and has its own set of DCR rules. It has a single point contact for building permission, water supply and all related infrastructure. AITL will also manage day to day activities of the industrial city.
