Umm Alhoul Free Zone, spanning 32km, is strategically located near Hamad Port, the largest greenfield port globally. This prime location offers a significant advantage to industries that rely on sea freight and shipping routes. In 2019, it was officially designated as a free zone.

Additionally, there are 14 Light Industrial Units available.
Developers of each plot must adhere to a minimum GSAS rating of 1-star.

The zone is designed to incorporate various smart technologies, including smart waste bins, intelligent street lighting, and addressable advertising panels.
MARSA – for marine activities
MARSA, an exclusive hub for maritime activities, is located within Qatar’s Umm Alhoul free zone. Positioned adjacent to the world’s largest greenfield seaport, Hamad Port, and merely 20 minutes from Doha city center, MARSA offers companies from around the world a strategic base for conducting diverse maritime activities. These include ocean vessel building and repair, internal design and fit-out, ship provisions supply, safety training, boat brokerage, and maritime research. With an 8.5-meter deep draught and 2 kilometers of quay wall, MARSA is well-equipped to cater to these activities.
Umm Al-Houl Special Economic Zone functions as a comprehensive city aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to develop robust industries to meet local demand. Situated near Mesaieed and Al-Wakrah, this industrial park project accommodates approximately 60,000 individuals. It provides housing, recreational facilities, public and community services, as well as commercial and business activities.
Infrastructure at Umm Alhoul Free Zone
As a design subconsultant to Egis within the new economic zone, ECG will be responsible for developing the following infrastructure utilities:
- Four district cooling plants with a combined capacity of around 150,000 TR.
- A telecommunications network.
- External networks and facilities for wet infrastructure utilities, including potable water, foul water, treated sewage effluent utilities, and reservoirs.
- A sewage treatment plant.
The electricity networks, with an approaching capacity of 1,500 mega volt-ampere, will ensure reliable power supply for industrial functions throughout the entire project area.
In line with Qatar’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation, Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) recently signed various contracts for the transition to electric vehicles. Additionally, QFZA, in collaboration with Yutong (a Chinese company) and Mowasalat, signed a multilateral framework agreement to establish an electric bus (e-buses) manufacturing plant in Umm Al Houl Free Zone. This agreement paves the way for the production of e-buses, including those designated for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and beyond.
